The upper of the silhouette comes constructed out of leather material, with the tonal gray hue taking up most of the upper. The gray leather uppers contrast with the stitched-on metallic foil colors. The sneakers are marked with sarcastic lines from Off-White and Abloh's signature zip ties in white and monochrome gray. A zip-tie tag, "SHOELACES" text above the laces, a tongue tag that has been moved, exposed stitching, "Nike Air" embroidery at the back, and other details complete the raw construction shoe. The Off-White x Air Max 90 'Black' offers a unique blend of materials on the upper, which combines a ripstop base with nubuck overlays and a suede mudguard. Released as part of the 'The Ten' collection from Virgil Abloh and Nike, the Off-White x Air Force 1 is transformed through the use of a translucent upper - an effect the designer calls 'ghosting.' Abloh characterizes this model as one of the most experimental designs from 'The Ten,' as it takes a foundational sneaker and radically reduces it, removing all the layers practically down to the padding, so that it's still technically an Air Force 1, but just barely.

During New York Fashion Week, Virgil Abloh and his Off-White label revealed a brand new Nike sneaker.The model, which has yet to receive an official name, mixes element from past designs including an upper of the P-6000 and tooling of the Nike Dunk with added exposed Nike Air bubbles in the heel. The Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Low 'Lemonade' reunites Virgil Abloh with Bruce Kilgore's iconic 1982 basketball shoe. Abloh dips the leather upper in a rich mustard yellow hue, save for a silver Swoosh outlined in contrast zigzag stitching and the designer's signature Helvetica text on the medial quarter panel. A matching yellow midsole features 'AIR' printed on the lateral sidewall. Exposed foam construction is utilized on the collar and tongue, the latter decorated with a woven tag that displays 'OFF' Nike Air branding. Abloh leaves his final mark by looping his signature zip tie around the laces.

In January 2018, MoMA exclusively sold the sneaker to celebrate its 'Items: Is Fashion Modern?' exhibition.
