Virgil Abloh explores the art of deconstruction and recreation with a three-piece capsule collection of the Off-White x Nike Dunk Low. Launched in December 2019, this version is given a Black and white leather upper, bold branding on the medial and an grey-flagged Swoosh across the lateral. Dressed in Desert Tan for most of its body, it features the familiar components as its predecessors. Starting with the “AIR” imprint on the midsole, through to the "SHOELACES" on the laces, and the hallmark ziptie on its topmost. With the uniformity in color of the upper, a strong contrast is lent to the Metallic Silver Swooshes on the profiles, framed within the decorative stitching. The motif proliferates on the center of the heel as well.

Virgil Abloh presents a relatively straightforward take on Bruce Kilgore's design with this Off-White x Air Force 1 Low. That isn't to suggest there aren't unique details on the reconstructed build: in addition to a mix of ripstop and suede, the upper features taped seams and a white Swoosh attached via zigzag stitching. Exposed foam and misplaced tags appear on the tongue, while 'LOGO' inscribed on the heel tab delivers a final meta flourish.

In January 2018, MoMA exclusively sold the sneaker to celebrate its 'Items: Is Fashion Modern?' exhibition. The design features a metallic Swoosh on the black leather upper, an orange tag, translucent zip tie and white lettering on the side-panel. The upper of the silhouette comes constructed out of leather material, with the tonal gray hue taking up most of the upper. The gray leather uppers contrast with the stitched-on metallic foil colors. The metallic silver foil is affixed upon the swoosh logos on both the medial and lateral sides. The sneakers are marked with sarcastic lines from Off-White and Abloh's signature zip ties in white and monochrome gray. A zip-tie tag, "SHOELACES" text above the laces, a tongue tag that has been moved, exposed stitching, "Nike Air" embroidery at the back, and other details complete the raw construction shoe. White laces and inner linings provide another color into the mix over the design, and lastly, the black Abloh zip-tie is added over the "AIR" quotations on the midsoles. The red tags that are highlighted on the bottom of the swoosh logos are the only variation from the sneakers' monochrome color schemes.

There's no slowing down for the Dunk in 2021 with Nike set to embark on the silhouette's biggest year ever. Already having previewed dozens of upcoming options for the new year - from general releases to more OFF-WHITE collaborations - yet another appears. This time around, it's a Low version of the original "UNLV" Nike Dunk from 1985. It's a Low that Virgil Abloh used as a base on his selection of Nike Dunks in late 2019, which in itself will drive up the hype. This, though, is void of any OFF-WHITE flair — no external lace overlays, tack-on stitching or exposed-foam tongues, just straight-up classic construction. "Soft Grey" sets the stage for the eye-catching "University Red" that overtakes every overlay across the upper, liner and laces. "NIKE AIR" branding at the tongue also indulges in the scarlet tone atop a grey tag, with the heel embroidery reversed. Sole units remain unchanged from the OG, arriving in a classic white and red arrangement to complete the design.

Released as part of the 'The Ten' collection from Virgil Abloh and Nike, the Off-White x Air Force 1 is transformed through the use of a translucent upper – an effect the designer calls 'ghosting.'
