Nike Skateboarding will be releasing a special edition Nike SB Dunk Low that pays homage to the Grateful Dead Bears, which was a series of stylized dancing bears drawn by Bob Thomas as part of the back cover for the album History of the Grateful Dead, Volume One (Bear's Choice) in 1973.

Nike teamed up with UNheardof and Anonymous to release the SB Dunk Low 'Nasty Boys' in September 2015. Done up in the red and grey road colors of the Cincinnati Reds, the shoe pays tribute to the team's 'Nasty Boys' relief corps of Norm Charlton, Rob Dibble and Randy Myers, who were instrumental in the Reds' 1990 World Series championship over the Oakland A's. The Bay Area team received its own high-top Dunk to complete the thematic pack.

Concepts and Nike SB are back at it again, with a new iteration of the 'Lobster' inspiration. The Dunk Low Premium SB 'Purple Lobster' is similar to the three previous executions, inspired by odd color specimens found in nature due to genetic abnormalities that make their exoskeleton appear in different shades, such as yellow, blue and purple. Special details include a red and white plaid pattern on the lining, and an elastic band wrapped around the forefoot similar to how lobster claws are secured.

The Parra x Nike Dunk Low SB is drawn from a collaborative series paying tribute to the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where the sport of skateboarding makes its official debut. The Dutch artist Piet Parra dresses the low-top in off-white leather with abstract-print textile overlays in a blend of blue, red, pink and teal hues - an eye-catching design repeated on Nike SB's Olympic Federation Kits. The Nike SB Dunk Low Premium is this Kuwahara ET inspired pair that sought inspiration from the bicycle featured in the late 80's movie. The bike was something special at the time as it had not been widely produced outside of Japan until director Steven Spielberg put in a order for 40 of these custom BMX bikes to be shipped out to Hollywood. Now the folks at Nike have used Spielberg's cross Atlantic product to create these dope Dunk Low Premium SB shoes.
