Soon after the 1985 debut of the Dunk High, Nike struck deals with a number of colleges to dress the shoe in their respective school colors. Syracuse University has been with Nike ever since, and in 2016, Nike dropped the Dunk High Retro QS 'Syracuse,' an all-leather design decked out in the New York university's Team Orange color scheme.

Taking a negative image of the sneaker results in a direct flip of the unique color blocking.

Released on 4/20 for the cannabis-inspired holiday, the Nike Dunk High Pro SB 'Reverse Skunk' showcases a color flip on the 'Skunk' Dunk from 2010 designed by Todd Bratrud. The high-top's hairy suede upper is finished in varying shades of purple, along with vibrant pops of green on the Swoosh and woven tongue tag. The Black Sheep x Nike Dunk High SB 'Paid In Full' pays tribute to the critically acclaimed Rakim and Eric B. song. Canceled immediately after it was unveiled, the sneaker references the bespoke Dapper Dan jackets worn by the hip-hop legends on the cover of the title album with an interlocking 'SB' monogram. Metallic Gold Swooshes and thick laces represent their signature dookie rope chains, while the green interior and tongue patch symbolize the dollar bill background.

Pro skater Ishod Wair enlisted the help of designer Magnus Walker, a fellow LA car enthusiast, to develop the Nike Dunk High Pro SB 'Urban Outlaw.' The name is borrowed from Walker's renowned short film, featuring a custom Porsche 911 dressed in the same colors and graphics used on the shoe. They include a Union Jack emblem and assorted racing style visuals on a cracked white leather upper, featuring a wear-away outer layer that reveals a base layer of gold. Contrasting hits of color arrive via a blue leather Swoosh, red textile toe box, and mismatched red and blue tartan plaid on the collar lining of each shoe. A distressed finish is applied to the midsole, accented with Nike SB branding on the lateral sidewall and supported by a two-tone rubber outsole.
