The Air Jordan 4 Retro NRG 'Raptors' shares its name with an OG colorway of the Air Jordan 7, and both feature nubuck construction and a black, red and purple palette. The 4 differs from the 7 by ditching the charcoal grey paneling of the 1992 release while also adding a speckled midsole. But it's not as if the 'Raptors' name is exactly canonical—the Toronto Raptors franchise didn't exist before 1995.

In 2012 the Air Jordan 4 'Retro 'Bred' was released as part Nike's Black Friday release. The sneaker was one of the four original colorways released in 1989. It features the same Black, Red, and Cement Grey colorway as its original. The Air Jordan 4 'Retro 'Bred' was retro'd in 1999 and in 2008 as part of the Collezione pack. This 2012 retro release also swaps out the OG Nike Air branding for a Jumpman logo on the heel.

This black colorway of the KAWS x Air Jordan 4 Retro released in November 2017, several months following the renowned Brooklyn artist's first Air Jordan 4 collaboration – a grey colorway that dropped March 2017. Like its predecessor, the shoe sports an all suede upper, featuring a subtle tonal print depicting the cartoon hands of KAWS' famous Companion figure. Those same hands are seen underneath the translucent glow-in-the-dark outsole. The artist's signature 'XX,' juxtaposed above Nike's 'AIR' trademark, are inscribed on the heels.

The Union LA x Air Jordan 4 Retro 'Taupe Haze' reunites Jordan Brand with the influential retailer as part of the latter's 30th anniversary celebration. Featuring the same reimagined build the creative partners unveiled in 2020, the mid-top is exclusive to Union and drawn from a capsule — titled 'Tent and Trail' — inspired by outdoor gear from the'80s and '90s. A neutral taupe hue is applied to the upper, crafted from a blend of breathable mesh and soft suede. Bright hits of Roma Green distinguish the lower molded eyelets and heel tab, embellished with a raised Nike Air logo in Blue Fury. Paying tribute to the Eminem's 2004 album ENCORE, the Eminem x Air Jordan 4 Retro 'Encore' was released in a limited run of 50. The sneaker features a navy blue suede upper with mesh paneling on the side and forefoot for breathability. Other design details include black leather accents on the sides, tongue, midsole, and laces, as well as grey details on the branded heel. For contrast and comfort, the sneaker sports a partially encapsulated white Air unit in the midsole with responsive cushioning. This shoe was only given away to a few contest winners and friends and family of Eminem.
