The KAWS x Air Jordan 4 Retro is a collaboration between the Jordan Brand and Brooklyn-based street artist KAWS, a.k.a. Brian Donnelly. The design removes the silhouette's traditional plastic accents and dresses the entire upper and midsole in a premium grey suede upper. The sneaker also features KAWS' 'XX' branding on the heel tab. The shoes were released alongside a small capsule collection that included a coaches jacket, hoodie, t-shirt, and hat in March of 2017. The hype was so intense for this release that the in-store raffle at Patta in London was read the riot act by the police and sneakerheads hacked into Donnelly's website for a chance at the drop.

The Air Jordan 4 Retro 'White Oreo' features a design theme that recalls the original 'Oreo' AJ4 from 1999. The black tumbled leather upper of the older shoe is replaced by a clean white finish, though the speckled molded eyelets in Tech Grey remain the same. The neutral hue is repeated on the Jumpman heel logo and polyurethane midsole, featuring encapsulated Air cushioning in the forefoot and a visible unit under the heel. A second Jumpman adorns the tongue in a contrasting pop of Fire Red.

Released in November 2019, the Air Jordan 4 Retro SE 'What The 4' takes the original four colorways of the Air Jordan 4 and combines them in a 'What The' format that has been seen on several Nike silhouettes. This original color palette is realized on the entire shoe, with the beloved Varsity Red, Cement Grey and Military Blue that Jordan 4 fans recognize and love. The discordant aesthetic works across the leather uppers, signature lacing wings and Jumpman logos on the tongue and heel to create something familiar yet new.

The 'Doernbecher' rendition of the Jordan 4 from 2011 was designed in conjunction with Isaiah Scott. The shoe's black nubuck upper is accented with tonal arrow designs throughout, while vibrant green and blue accents are seen on the branding, eyestay and midsole. Some of the more unique details on the shoe include the Superman tongue logo and a silhouette of Isaiah's face instead of the Mars Blackmon accent on the heel.

Releasing exclusively at Nike Manila in the Philippines is a hyperstrike drop of the Air Jordan 4 "Manila", the country's capital. Inspired by the city's official flag, this highly exclusive drop – limited to a mere 150 pairs – is covered in quality green leathers with an ostrich texture on the tongue and a "stingray" leather texture on the mudguard. Offset with a sharp back on the nettings, laces, exterior wings + heel, and sockliner, the Air Jordan 4 "Manila" also features a yellow Jumpman hangtag with hits of red, blue, and yellow on the outsole – a nod to the flag of the Philippines. Releasing as part of the renowned retailer's 30th anniversary festivities, the Union LA x Air Jordan 4 Retro 'Desert Moss' brings back the creative partners' modified AJ4 from 2020. This pair is taken from a capsule dubbed 'Tent and Trail,' featuring colors and materials inspired by outdoor gear from the '80s and '90s. The mid-top carries an upper built with a blend of bright purple mesh and mustard yellow suede. Vibrant pops of turquoise land on the lower molded eyelets and heel tab, marked with Nike Air branding in a lavender hue. A stitched fold-down tongue, yellow 'UN/LA' tag and translucent TPU wings are carried over from the 2020 release. The sneaker is mounted on an off-white polyurethane midsole with an aqua-tinged Air-sole unit under the heel.

Darker patches of the colors offer a 3D effect drawn from the shadows found on the rotund shape of Snorlax.
