Nike released a colorway of the classic Air Jordan 3 silhouette in celebration of the University of Oregon student cheer section known as the Pit Crew. The Air Jordan 3 Retro 'Oregon Pit Crew' Sample features a black leather upper with iconic elephant print designs on the mudguard and heel. The low top also boasts grey accents around the collar, tongue, and on the eyestay, as well as an Oregon "O" logo on the tongue, a duck foot motif on the heel, and a partially encapsulated Air unit for responsive cushioning.

Based upon Tinker Hatfield's original sketches of the 1988 icon, the Air Jordan 3 Retro Tinker SP resurfaces with upgraded materials in a classic color scheme borrowed from another famous Tinker design. This March 2019 'Tinker Air Max 1' sneaker features a leather constructed upper with perforated detailing and a bold suede University Red mudguard. The Jumpman logo is embroidered on the tongue, while a Swoosh hits the lateral side that can be swapped out between three different designs. Tinker Hafield's signature is featured on the inside of the tongue, while the classic visible Air unit and NIKE AIR branding on the heel pay homage to the shoe's legacy.

The AJ3 was the first of numerous Air Jordans designed by Tinker Hatfield and the debut of the Jumpman logo on the tongue. This 'Knicks Rivals' retro, released in September 2019, stays true to the original silhouette with a white tumbled leather upper, elephant print on the toe cap and heel, Old Royal and University Orange accents, and a visible Nike Air unit.

The Air Jordan 3 Retro 'White Cement Reimagined' brings back one of the original colorways, celebrating the 35th anniversary of the AJ3. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Reimagined iteration is built to the original 1988 specs. Returning true to form, the white leather upper pairs with elephant print overlays on the heel and toe while hits of Varsity Red appear on the lace loops and the Jumpman logo on the tongue. Nike Air is emblazoned on the back heel tab, while a visible Air unit provides lightweight cushioning. A slight hint of yellowing appears on the back heel and midsole, giving the shoe a vintage look.
